2025.08.30 – 2025.09.03
Saturday 30.08 the forecast shows a weak wind. We prepare mentally for the whole day under engine and start late. In any case, we’ll be sailing across the skerries without going in towards the City, contrary to the previous years. So today, we’ll see the External Skerries – islands that rose relatively recently from below the sea.
We can set sails however and continue an easy sailing such that the Cats walk on the deck. For the first time, Micke ate his meal underway.
As it worked out, we were able to go under sail for the whole day. We passed 3 Swedish warships. After traveling 20 nm, we arrived at Rödlöga rocks in the external skerries in the early evening.
On Sunday 31.08 in the morning, the Cats arrive early at the boat so we cast lines without breakfast.Shortly after switching on the engine, when we were going through a canal between skerries, we hear alarm – the engine overheated. So we switch off the engine as soon as we can – after leaving the canal, and drift while we try to analyze the problem.
We took apart the coolwater pump and checked other things. After 2 hours only I checked the easiest thing – the cover of the coolwater filter. It was slightly opened and the system sucked air.
The trip continued without adventures, of course under engine due to a complete lack of wind. The Cats were feeling good and ate underway. About 5pm, we arrived at Norra Hagedeviken where we had a barbecue.
On Monday 1st of September, we leave quite late. We needed to call Kajjan quite long time, then we switched on the engine counting on that the sound of it would make Kajjan come. This worked to a degree – he approached the boat but we needed to carry him onboard before we could leave.
Sailing intermittent with going under engine, 20 nm. We arrived at Små Dalarö – quite expensive harbor at a hotel in the south of Stockholm’s skerries.
On Tuesday 2.09, Kajjan does not come to the boat the whole day long. So we were forced to stay in the harbor. He arrives at 11pm, quickly ate something and wanted to leave, but we closed the cabin. Kajjan asked long in the night to be let out, then finally let us sleep.
We get up early on Wednesday and we sail away without letting Cats out. They are unhappy but they eat breakfast and we can sail.
At the beginning, we use the engine but then a strong southerly wind appeared and we could beat against it. Before the sea got high from this strong wind, we could arrive at a small harbor of the Nynäshamn yachting club on the island of Lacka.
We bathed in the harbor bay and then we had a barbecue. The sauna in the club was unfortunately closed due to season’s end. The Cats were sightseeing on the shore.
