Thursday 4.09 we are ready to go at 8:30 but Cats are not yet onboard. Kajjan came finally for the breakfast and he was locked in, but Micke required us to take a walk with him on the shore. Finally around 9:15 we managed to bring also him onboard and we could sail away.
The wind of 5Bft coming from the south so we need to sail against it. The waves much bigger than yesterday, so we help ourselves to beat upwind from between the shallows with the engine. We achieved the speed of 4 kn using engine and reefed sails.
In order to limit the time we sail upwind, we decide not to round the Landsort from the south, which we did all the years before, but to go between the island Öja where the light is located and the point Torö and then to proceed close to shore while being sheltered by the shallows from the big waves coming from the south. Thus we go with some difficulties through narrow passages against the wind. But then we can bear off and reach with a good speed of 5.5 kn.
We arrive at Stora Brännskär – this is Södermanland skerries not far from Trosa. Micke stays onshore for the night and Kajjan sleeps on the boat – the opposite of the usual configuration.
On Friday 5.09, the wind is quite small, but we believe that the waves on the open sea are quite high after yesterdays wind. We continue the inland route. We pass the narrow but known to us passage of Savö. The Savö Cafe tempts us, it advertises that it Is open. After we dock to it we get to know that it closed as the season is over. Pity they didn’t take down the ads. We then sailed through the picturesque Stendörren passage for the first time – narrow and shallow.
The rest of the day without noticeable events. We arrived via the well marked but narrow trail to Nyköping. Next day, Saturday, I went by train to Hudiksvall and picked up the car – and in the afternoon, we returned home.
