We sail north and pass the 60th latitude. We celebrate this with tonic.
We pass Grisslehamn and further on, we arrive at Gåssten. Finally, some serious sailing made.today. We moor in the usual way – anchor from the stern and several ropes from the bow to the land. Cats spend the night in the usual way – Micke onboard and Kajjan on shore. We hope to sleep through as there are no carnivores dangerous for our cats on the island.
In the night suddenly a wind from the side comes. I wake up hearing the keel hitting stones. I run aft to haul in the anchor rope – but it is slack – the anchor does not hold. I wake up Agnieszka, turn on the engine and we drop the lines, to leave the shore before the boat lands on the rocks. We drop the lines quite literally – we tie them off – or even cut one – at the boat, nobody will jump on shore in such a condition! Meanwhile, Kajjan appears from his excursion on the land, jumps onboard and lets himself be locked under deck. Our dear Cat didn’t want to be left alone onshore. We drive the boat into the middle of the cove and cast anchor there – our serious, heavy, bow anchor. We check that it holds and go to bed.
In the morning, the Cats are unhappy that we are not ath the shore. Micke walks to the very bowsprit so as to check if there is a small, invisible from the aft, land there. Agnieszka takes our dinghy to collect the ropes from the land. The dinghy stays connected to the boat by a long, combined rope all the time. This all goes well and we leave the cove of Gåssten. We sail on north through the skerries of Roslagen.
