After this nice stay in Segelvik, we decide to sail back home. The middle of the summer has already passed and we have no chance to arrive to Umeå – where from we could arrive to Oulu by ferry and car, and so cheat into achieving our original goal. Thus, we use a second week of my vacation to reach as far south as possible, and plan on arriving to the winter quarters by sailing on weekends later on.
So we sail among various islands and the harbour of Norrsundet, known to us already, we arrive at the big harbour of Öregrund. This is the largest port in this part of the coast so I hope for a good infrastructure that would allow me to work from the boat during the following week. Unfortunately, the marina does not offer internet access, but there is a motorboat meeting and races this week. These events and the accompanying crowds of mostly young mostly drunk people overwhelm the marina facilities and are generally stressful. Specifically our Cats suffer due to the chaos and noises that go on day and night.
After this tiring week, we sail back to the Stockholm Archipelago over weekend. We want to see something new so we spend the last week of my vacation in the central section of the Archipelago. We overnight in coves and natural harbours and also in the marina Bullandö. This is a well equipped and relatively inexpensive marina in a comfortable location.
Then my vacation ends. We arrive to the harbour of Bosö on the island of Lidingö. The next day, we pack the Cats and ourselves to the car and drive off home, leaving the boat in the marina for the week. I have never seen our Cats jump into the car so eagerly. The were so happy to be back home. They just needed to reclaim the area, because it was already claimed by other animals (not the least the cats of our neighbours) in the long weeks of our absence.
